From this to that Friday: Rustic Checkers Game

I really think Fridays are my favorite day on the blog. I get so excited to show you my FTTTs. :)

I have another game this week, but this time it took a lot more time.

I started with this:
and this:
and turned them into....
this AWESOME large Rustic Checkers Game!
I absolutely am in love with it! I used different kinds of wood for different players, In the pics you see: cherry wood slices, pecan wood slices, and cedar, although I have more kinds to work with as well.
I like the raw rustic unfinished look, so I didn't even sand down the playing pieces and they look and work great! The bandanas look awesome with them too! I wanted a bit more sturdiness to the bandanas though, so I put a fleece backing on them and added bias tape around the edges. I cut out some turquoise bandanas that also look great as well and I am excited to see coming together for another board.
I even made a little drawstring bag that we can roll the gameboard up in and add the checkers pieces to. Great to keep it all together. Fun for the whole family, at home, inside or to take on the road! Love! Love! Love!

Come back next Friday to see some more FTTTs! Have a great weekend!

Made this cute little basket a couple years ago and loved the way it came out.

Always cracks me up!

Easter Sneak Peak

Here's a little sneak peak into what I am making my girls for Easter this year. I made this little set for my brand new teeny weenie niece a couple weeks ago. It's a 3-6 mos set, so I thought I better not just do summer colors, bc it will be fitting her in the fall. Turned out adorable if I do say so myself! AND I did it all without a pattern! Super easy!!!

I took pics as I went along, so I'll post a tutorial a bit later.

A Talking Toilet

What is the weirdest place you have ever heard of someone putting vinyl?! For me, I just put it on our toilet! Yep! I did! And it has even helped...sometimes. lol I think it would work better though, if the toilet could actually have a motion/voice activator on it that actually spoke the same words "Put down the seat!." "Close the lid." "Do you want  your little sister playing in that?" "Wash your hands". I would love it! Maybe I should patent that, huh?

Next idea...vinyl red bulls eye target IN the bowl?! HAHA

It's Tuesday! Share anything that you have going on! :)
And if you want to purchase this vinyl, you can get it here in my etsy shop!

Measure it up Monday Menus

We are working on our house nonstop these days, getting it ready to list within the next couple of weeks. That means, I need quick and easy dinners! That are relatively  healthy. And inexpensive. And can feed a large family. And did I say quick and easy?

So, I think I am going back to the idea I have done before of menu planning. I also have tried the spend a day making all of these freezer crockpot meals. And that day is HARD, but well worth it. I would SO do that right now, IF I had even one day that I could devote to doing it. Give me a couple weeks and I really should do that one again, esp while the house is on the market. That could save me! But for now...

So, what are your family's quick and easy meals? (where the kids actually eat them and don't whine about doing so through the whole meal). :) I would love all the help I can get!

So far in the past two weeks we have had: spaghetti, pancakes/waffles, tacos, cereal (haha Yes! I started that one they year my husband was in Iraq. Don't judge.) :) fish and rice (my kids love and kind of seafood or Chinese food), we did do take out of Chinese one night, pizza, German pancakes, chicken and rice, leftovers!, ??? So help a girl out! Ideas???

From this to That Friday: Games and Gifts

This week for my From this to That, I have a game for you...to give as a gift! It could be to a family member, a teacher, almost anyone!

I'm sure you have seen this game before:
Well, you may have even seen these cute boards before too. A few years ago, I made this cute board to hang in our house of our family names. I had debated on putting it on an easel or in a shadow boc and later just punched some holes in the top of it and added ribbon and like it that way best.

When I first made it, we hadn't even had our fifth child, so good thing we made room for her name on it! lol

BUT, have you seen it used this way before?!

About a year after I made it, I had the idea to give it away to my children's teachers as an end-of-the-year gift. And we LOVE to do them now!
I have the kids help come up with words to include on the board that remind them of that teacher or of things that they have learned in their class that year. So...funny story. Last year, my son LOVED his teacher. He LOVED her! Maybe it's because she had red hair like him? lol I don't know. (Although I loved her too! She is great!) She even said he was always stuck to her. Anyway, as he was coming up with words to put on her board, I noticed one in particular that I had to help him...ummmm...change....lol.

See it? LOL I told him we could put "love" on there, but prob better not do the other. Ha! Thought it was hilarious!
Here was how they came out last year.
I love how it shows what the kids remember from their teachers, but also what they feel and think about them too. The year before, I remember one of the first words my son came up with was dance, bc that teacher danced with the kids in the classroom. She really liked hers I know! I really think it means something for them to make them and hopefully for the teachers to receive them too.
After:
Anyway, they would be great to make for family gifts, teachers, you could even do them for work and other gifts. A super easy From-this-to-that to make and so very fun!!!
