Granola is actually a super simple thing to make....
You pretty just take all of your ingredients and mix them all up in a bowl and bake for just a few minutes. Smells so good, tastes so good, and IS so good for you! Can you tell everything I poured into this batch?
No? lol Well, here are some of the ingredients:
And here is the actual recipe:
Homemade Honey, Almonds, and Cherry Granola
Mix together dry ingredients in any order all in a large bowl:
6 cups old fashioned oats
4 oz sliced natural almonds
Hulled pumpkin seeds (2 small packages)
Chia seeds (2 small packages)
Flax seeds (I used about a half cup)
1-2 cups unsweetened coconut flakes
dried cherries (or dried fruit of your choice)
1 1/2 tsp iodized sea salt
Then melt the following together in the microwave.
2/3 cup organic coconut palm sugar
2/3 cup honey
2 1/2 T coconut oil
Add vanilla to the above mixture after heated.
3/4 tsp vanilla
(You can adjust the amounts of almost anything above to be what you want. Play with it and see what you like.)
Pour the warm liquid mixture over the oat mixture and toss in a bowl until completely covered. Then pour evenly and spread out on a couple of cookie sheets.
Bake in the oven at 350 for about 15-20 minutes, stirring and turning it all over every 5 minutes. I like it crunchy, if you like it sticky and softer, lessen your itme by five minutes or so.
This made two huge cookie sheets full of granola, so half the recipe if that will be too much for you, or better yet gift it! It's also great to freeze and pull out later too!
I love to eat mine by itself, or with a small bowl of milk, or on top of some Greek yogurt...my fav! And it's actually quite filling too! And a healthy kind of calories for you!
This time I layered mine in a little (oober cute) jar, and put it in the fridge, ready to grab later and it worked great! Love! Truly though, there are so many options and variations that you can do with granola, so give it a shot!
