My daughter decided she wanted to dress as 50's girl for Halloween this year, and I thought that the poodle for her skirt, would be the perfect project to try out cutting on the Silhouette.
I went to the fabric store to get all of my supplies. I didn't want to use felt for her skirt, bc I wanted to be able to wash it easily, so I opted for using duck cloth. I bought the fabric, a wide black elastic band for the waist, some white fabric remnant that I found, and some decorative rick rack.
The other thing I picked up was this backing for the poodle. It was double sided, so I was able to peel off one side and stick the fabric on.
Then I loaded it onto my mat and into my Silhouette machine, put a new blade it, and hit cut!
I did a double cut just to make sure it was cut through everywhere. It cut great! Then I just had to peel the back side off and iron it onto the skirt. It really was sooooo simple! Why was I nervous?! hahaha
For the skirt, (again...so simple!) I made a circle skirt. You just cut a large circle out of your fabric. then cut a (very) small circle in the center for the waist. You sew your thick black elastic band around that inner circle and hem the bottom of the skirt and that's all there is to it! Seriously, it's that simple!
Now she's ready to go off to the school's Boogie Bash!
(Don't forget that today is the last day to enter the contest as well!!)
