I don't know about you, but we woke up to frost on the ground this past weekend. We have been loving this crisp autumn weather and hate to see it end. At the same time my kids are ancy for some upcoming sledding weather too! BUT...you know what that means, right? You don't want to be without the support your body needs. Time to get ready with some supplements and healthy living!
If you have followed me even a little bit, you know that our family tries hard to stay healthy; both inside and out. What you put into your body greatly affects you immune support system and your health, which in turn affects your mental clarity and your body functioning properly.
So with the visit from Jack Frost, I started thinking about how I can help my family stay healthy and keep their bodies strong and ready to combat any germs that head our way. So I came up with a 5 step plan for our family to keep us healthy and strong during this season. Then I headed over to my great friend-of-a-store that never lets me down, our local Walmart to get started.
Here is the 5 step plan I came up with:
5 Step Plan to Achieve a More Healthy Family
1. SUPPLEMENT YOUR NUTRITION
Among other things, our family believes that we must support our immune system and our bodies with supplemental nutrition. A great way to start this is with Ester-C Vitamin C. This is a great way to maintain support for your immune system, around the clock, FOR 24 HOURS of each day! And Ester-C absorbs easily too! There's no point in taking vitamin C if it doesn't absorb. You don't want to be lacking this support during this or any season.
Why did I pick Ester-C with all the other kinds of Vitamins out there? Well, here are a few things about 24 hour Ester-C that made it an obvious choice for me!
· Ester-C is the Patented Immune Health Formula that Lasts Longer Than Regular Vitamin C and stays in your system for 24 hours!
· It is carefully formulated to contain naturally occurring metabolites. Metabolites are a substance derived from other compounds (such as nutrients) during the process of metabolism. The metabolites in Ester-C® help enhance the retention of Vitamin C by your white blood cells for 24 hours, which are a vital component of your immune system.*
· It is manufactured using a unique, water-based process that combines Vitamin C with Calcium using no chemical solvents. This unique, chemical solvent-free manufacturing process neutralizes pH, making it non-acidic and gentler on the stomach than regular Vitamin C.*
· 1000mg & 500mg Tablets are Non-GMO, 100% Vegetarian, Gluten Free, and Free of Artificial Flavors & Colors. Aligned with focusing on the 500mg 90ct & 1000mg 120ct
2. EAT HEALTHY
Along with taking our daily doses of Ester-C, our family also tries to eat healthy. I have found that my kids are much more likely to eat raw vegetables as a snack when I put them out with more than one option (like a mini veggie plate). It only takes a couple more minutes of work for me, but they eat so much more this way. You can change up the veggies from your typical carrots and celery, to cucumbers and broccoli, or to whatever floats your boat (well, or your kids boat.) ;). Adding a touch of fruit helps as well.
We also eat clean meals for the most part in our house. Here are just a few of the recipes that I have posted previously that support healthy clean eating.

3. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Our family also tries to be outside everyday at least some. We diligently try to get in some physical activity on a regular basis.
Some of the things our family enjoys collectively, or individually, are: enjoy hiking together, riding bikes, jumping on the trampoline, going to the park, taking walks, and raking the leaves and then jumping in them right now! :)
We also enjoy soccer (especially my redhead above),
basketball, gymnastics, triathlons, and running.

My daughter is even training right now for a 5K later this month.
Just get out there and do something!
4. REST
Whether you need to up the amount of hours you sleep at night, add some melatonin in here and there to help you reach your maximum REM sleep, or make sure your little ones get their naps in...my guess is that we could all work on improving our sleep habits.
A couple of tips to help you sleep better:
-Don't use an electronic screen right before bed. Your brain is able to "turn itself off to sleep" more easily and faster if you have not been staring at a screen right before you hit the sack.
-Don't drink or eat after dinner or right before bed.
-Go to bed at a consistent time each night and where you are able to get 7-8 hours of sleep.
-Another great thing to do during the day at some point, is to just to take a few moments during the day to just "rest" from everything else going on around you. Just take a time out. Ponder or meditate on something in your life. Just rest at some point and take a breather.
5. Mental Attitude
Amazingly, your mental attitude IS influenced and DOES influence so much more of your life than you know. Even the food you eat can influence you mentally. BUT...the key is to find something that makes you happy each day. It can be just listening to music, tickling a little one, or reading a book for an hour. If you can make someone happy, even if it's just yourself, it will truly make you feel better.
So, there you have our 5 step plan to Achieve a More Healthy Family! I love spending time with my family, and with this plan in place, we aim to spend a lot of time together this winter having fun!
We have learned though, that no matter how healthy you try and eat and how active you are, it's always good to supplement those vitamins and minerals. (One more great idea is to use those little vitamin/pill weekly storage boxes for your vitamins and have one for each member of your family to make sure to remind you all to take them.) You can't go wrong with supplemental nutrition!
So, what do you and your family do to stay healthy during this
you-dont-want-to-touch-anything-for-fear-of-germs season of year?
(haha Funny, but oh so true! How many of you have a bottle of hand sanitizer in your car (or in your homes), and have you or your children immediately squirt some in your hand as you get home each day?!) We always love hearing new ideas!
(Disclaimer: These are just my personal suggestions to become a more healthier you. I am not a doctor nor profess to be one. This 5 step plan will not cure diseases or be able to control medical conditions from happening. Again, these are just my personal suggestions and opinions.)
