I don't know about you, but I love the flavor in homemade maple syrup. If I had a maple tree and lived up NE (like my husband's aunt and uncle), I would definitely tap those maple trees (Yep! They do that!). But...I don't.
So...this is the best I can do! And it's sooooo easy! (Yes it is still full of sugar, but at least you know that is ALL that is in there. No preservatives or extra words you can't pronounce. No High Fructose Corn Syrup, and it's also about moderation. This is an occasional treat. I DO want to try this with some coconut palm sugar soon though and see how it comes out.)
To make your own maple syrup, all you need are three ingredients:
Maple Syrup Recipe
1/2-1 tsp Mapleine (found at your grocery store)
2 cups Sugar
1 cup Water
Boil your water, add your sugar and dissolve and then add the mapleine.
It really IS that easy!
And sooooo yummy!
(Great on those German pancakes, waffles, french toast, pancakes, and in oatmeal!)
