I have had some sickies this week and have had a hard time getting this last project for the week done. Ironically too, it is sooo easy! But I'm here today...finally! haha
Today I have another From this to that for you. My favorite kind of post! Where I take something that seems plain and ordinary and transform it into...something not so plain and ordinary. lol No, really. I just love creating and love taking something and using some creativity to make it into something fun...or just something...MORE! Love it!
Today I have a simple DIY for you. And all you really need is a couple of yardsticks! Yep! That's it! (Well, I'm not gonna lie...you need some adhesive or nails/staples too. lol)
It's the easiest thing ever and so fun!
Grab yourself a couple of yardsticks...you can find them almost anywhere...craft stores, tool supply stores, almost anywhere. You'll need three to make this project.
I didn't want to mess with my husband's nail gun and I knew I wanted this as a decorative piece, not to by lugging heavy things around in, so I just opted to use my hot glue gun as my adhesive.
I cut my yardsticks into 7 pieces that were 11 inches long and 4 pieces that were 5 1/2 inches long. Then I used 8 popsicle sticks as well, where I cut off the rounded ends. (These were used in the corners as supports.) I also gave the yardsticks a whitewashed look with some white and brown acrylic paint as well.
And then I just assembled them into this rectangle box shape. Sounds too simple, right? It really isn't! I started with the bottom sides first:
When I had all four sides of the bottom assembled and glued, I added the base to it:
Then I clipped the ends off of my pospsicle sticks and made them the length I wanted:
And added them to every corner on both sides. I assembled the top ";ayer" then, and put it on over the corners and glued into place.
And wala! Love it!
Then I added these oober cute little glass milk bottles I found in the Dollar Spot at Target and some Christmas cheer and they are adorable as a centerpiece on my table! There are so many possibilities!
This is too easy NOT to try. You've got this! Get out there and pick up some yardsticks and something fun to put in it, and that's all you need to get started!
