I LOVE spring! I love the new life in the animals you see, in the trees and blossoms, the tulips and daffodils, and the weather! BUT...spring soccer season is also a CRAZY time of year for our family! We have four of our five kiddos in soccer and sometimes I feel like we should just pitch a tent at the soccer fields for the weekend! OR even for the week! Ha! Maybe we could set up a potluck too with other families. Hee hee

(Keep reading to see how I created the Ultimate Sideline Kit!
And I'm sharing a tutorial on how to make these Fruity Bug Kabobs too!)

One thing that I have found that helps us to not only stay hydrated, but helps to hold everyone over from one game to the next, and that helps to keep everyone happy, is to make sure we have fuel on the sidelines. The key, to happy soccer games for our family, is to stay hydrated and to fuel your body with fresh fruit and veggies! We love to eat pretty clean at our house, so the produce section at Walmart is where I head to find some snacks for soccer practices and games. And then, I pick up some POWERADE® while I'm there.

This gives us the perfect sideline snacks AND the perfect way to stay hydrated. POWERADE® is formulated with Vitamins B3, B6, & B12 to support energy metabolism, and a 6% carbohydrate solution to help provide energy to working muscles. AND every one of my kids LOVES it!

This past week, I wanted to make it even more fun though, so I had my kids help me make up some fun "Fruity Bug skewers" to take up to the soccer fields, along with a 12 pack of 12 oz POWERADE®  for the Ultimate Sideline Kit! It was a huge hit! So fun to create and to snack on!

So today, I thought I would show how YOU can also create the Ultimate Sideline Kit, and am sharing a little tutorial on how to make these fun "Fruity Bug Skewers". They're super easy and sure to be a big hit!

"Fruity Bug Skewers"
First thing you need to do is to pick up several different kinds of fruit. You will want to have different shapes, colors, and sizes. You also will want to pick up some toothpicks and skewers.

Then, you get to just be creative! Have fun! Decide what you want to make and go for it! Just start taking a piece of fruit, one at a time, and spear it with your skewer and start creating!

I'll share some of the specific ones I made.

 Caterpillar:
7 grapes and two little blueberries for the eyes
Ladybug:
1 large strawberry for the body, 1 small strawberry for the head, and wings were cut from an additional medium sized strawberry. Blueberry eyes were optional. We used a skewer AND two toothpicks that we broke in half to put this one together. (I also always leave the tookpicks and skewers sticking out a little, so that they are visible and can be taken out easily before eating.)

Dragonfly:
Two orange wedges for the wings, two blueberries for the eyes, and 5 grapes down the center. We used two skewers and 1 toothpick for the drangonfly.

Beetle:
This was one of my son's creations. It resembles a beetle to me and would even work on a single toothpick. One grape, a slice of strawberry, and one blueberry for the head. So simple and still fun!

Fly:
Another super simple one that was done on two toothpicks that crossed each other. Four grapes and a blueberry is all you need for the fly.

Mosquito:
One grape, one slice of strawberry, and one blueberry.

Large Yellow Ladybug:
This one was a lot bigger, but so fun and easy to make as well. We used one half of an orange for the body, along with two skinny slices of orange for the wings. Then added a head with a strawberry and several spots for the ladybug with blueberries all over.

Whether I am running from one soccer practice to another during the week, or preparing for those long days of games ahead of us on the weekends, these Fruity Bug Skewers were perfect! They don't take much time to make AND are great for throwing in a container and taking up the to the soccer fields alongside our POWERADE®. Now, I can sit and relax and enjoy watching my kids have fun and thrive out on the field!

From my youngest to my oldest playing soccer, the 12 pack of 12 oz POWERADE®, was great and definitely made it the perfect sideline kit for fueling their muscles and bodies, and helped the rest of us on the sidelines to stay hydrated as well!

PLUS, you can look for a coupon on the 12-pack 12 oz POWERADE® packages and you can get $1 off Walmart fresh produce when you buy two 12-pack 12 oz POWERADE®. But, hurry! This deal is only available while supplies lasts!

AND...you can always check out more on POWERADE® social channels too. You can find them on twitter @ Powerade, as well as on facebook, instagram, and on YouTube.

What do you do to fuel your body and to stay hydrated? Do you enjoy watching your kids out there on the field as much as I do? I'd love to hear how you make your busy days go smoother as well!
