I can't believe that the holidays are already right around the corner. Once we hit the end of October, it seems the rest of they year kicks into fast forward warp speed! One of my goals this year is to not let the enjoyment of being with family and friends get away from me during this time. It's so easy to get caught up in everyday life and your "have-to-do-this-today" lists, that sometimes we forget to focus on what matters most and where our real blessings are found.

For me, that means more time spent with family! I love having my family around me. Whether we are outside in the backyard, camping, or playing games together inside, I love having them all around me.Too many days though, I find myself running from one place to another, just trying to keep track of which kid needs to be where, and at what time. It makes my head spin! I want to be able to spend more time with my kids and family. To do this, everything needs to run as smoothly as possible, so I rely on my cell phone to help me do this. 

 I set alarms for when we need to leave to take each of the kids to their activities, and when they need to be picked up. 

I use it daily to keep in contact with my 16 year old, to know whether he needs to stay after school or not.

And I find it extremely helpful when I am spending time helping my older kids with their homework. (Shhhh...don't tell them that I don't know all of the answers! Ha!)

One more big way we use our cell phone for is to keep in touch with family that lives further away. Unfortunately we don't live really close to my parents and siblings and nieces and nephews, so lately we have been loving this technology for helping us to stay connected. We love to be able to chat and video call with family that lives further away. I love that my little ones can still interact with their grandparents and grow stronger relationships with them still.

So, now we can look forward to even more time spent interacting with family and friends, even those that are miles away. I love seeing my kids' smiles as they see their cousins familiar faces and hear their voices on the phone. I love that they keep those relationships they have with them and continue to share details of their daily lives this way.

So as you enter this busy time of year, think of what your REAL "should-be-doing" lists truly are!
